Add online booking to a Wix site

Open Slate booking over your Wix page from your own Wix button, or link the button to your booking page on any plan. Steps, fixes, and how to check it.

There are two ways to take bookings on a Wix site. The pop-out opens Slate booking over your page when a guest clicks your own Wix button. The Book now button opens your Slate booking page. Pick the pop-out if your site can run custom code; the button opens your booking page instead.

What you need

  • Your code from Slate. In Slate, open the Booking page tab, go to Add to your website and choose Wix. Slate shows your code with your details already filled in.
  • For the pop-out: a Wix site that is published and has a connected domain. Wix only runs custom code on those sites.
  • For the button: any Wix site where you can add a button.

Add the pop-out

  1. Copy the code from Slate.
  2. In your Wix dashboard, open Settings, then Custom Code under Development & integrations.
  3. Click + Add Custom Code, paste the code, choose All pages, place it in Body – end, and click Apply.
  4. In the Editor, click Add Elements, then Button, and place the button where guests should book.
  5. Click the button, click the Link icon, choose Web Address, paste your booking page address, and click Done.
  6. Publish your site. The button now opens booking over your page.

Or add a Book now button

  1. Copy your booking page address from Slate.
  2. In the Editor, click Add Elements, then Button.
  3. Click the button, click the Link icon, choose Web Address, paste your booking page address, and click Done.
  4. Change the button text to Book now and publish your site.

If it does not work

  • You cannot find Custom Code, or cannot save it. Your site must be published and have a connected domain first. Use the Book now button meanwhile.
  • The button opens your booking page instead of the pop-out. The code is not on that page: set it to All pages, in Body – end, and publish again.
  • The pop-out stopped after you changed your domain. Wix removes custom code when a site’s domain changes. Add the code again.

Check it worked

In Slate, paste the page’s address into Check my site. Slate reads the page, tells you whether it found your booking code, and checks it again every day.

Why not paste the code into Wix's Embed HTML element?

That element puts your code in a separate box, so the booking widget cannot size itself and checkout can be blocked. The pop-out and the button both avoid it.

What do I need for the pop-out?

Wix runs custom code only on sites that are published and have a connected domain. Without those, use the Book now button.
